Walmart announces pay hikes for employees
‘We’re all associates,’ CEO Doug McMillon wrote in a letter to employees. However, an employee group says the company isn’t doing enough.
After months and months of pressure from employee groups, activists and journalists urging Walmart to increase employee wages, the massive retail chain on Thursday announced a plan that will boost pay for around 40 percent of workers.
“We’re all associates,” CEO Doug McMillon wrote in an open letter to employees, which was accompanied by a video message. “We have different roles at different times in our career and every one of them is important.” â
