Twitter announces stronger abuse-blocking measures
The social media platform announced a feature that will help staff identify abuse more quickly along with an extended policy against violent threats.
Last week the company’s general counsel, Vijaya Gadde, wrote an opinion piece in The Washington Post that outlined plans to overhaul safety policies and drastically cut response times to reports of abuse.
The latest erase-the-hate missive comes from Twitter director of product management, Shreyas Doshi. He penned a blog post on the company’s website announcing the Twitter’s “latest product and policy updates that will help us in continuing to develop a platform on which users can safely engage with the world at large.”
Specifically, Twitter extended its violent threats policy to cover “threats of violence against others or promot[ing] violence against others,” and called the previous policy “unduly narrow and limited.”
