Study: 54 percent of social network users are ‘addicted’
Nearly half of these users said they’re checking their favorite sites ‘several times a day or constantly.’ Is this you?
To which you reply: “I have at least six throughout the day”—a response that elicits mild, but obvious shock on the person’s face.
Same thing probably happens when PR and marketing professionals talk to people outside the industry about social media. An accountant, tow truck driver, or executive might say, “You spend how much time checking Twitter?”
It is, of course, part of the job. But does that make you addicted to social media?
A new study by the online security firm Webroot found that 54 percent of social media users feel some level of addiction to their social network of choice. Nearly half (46 percent) visit their favorite social network several times a day or constantly.
