Starbucks turns 40: Is the coffee giant over the hill?
They say caffeine ages you, but a coffee fiend’s best friend doesn’t look a day over 39.
As you probably heard, Starbucks turns 40 this year, but don’t worry—it’s not expecting gifts, and we didn’t just ruin the surprise party.
Instead, the company is throwing itself a birthday bash—treats included.
Various Starbucks locations are celebrating with “Tribute Days” this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The participating stores will offer a free sample of the newest gourmet menu items, petites (with the purchase of your favorite handcrafted beverage, mind you).
So, it seems the cup gets larger, but the food gets smaller. Perhaps it’s because the company’s metabolism has slowed in its old age.
