Monday was Community Manager Appreciation Day. Before you say thanks to the person overseeing your organization’s social media, learn what makes him or her tick.
Analyst Jeremiah Owyang created the holiday in 2010 to “recognize, and celebrate the efforts community managers around the world to improve customer experiences.”
The people working in these roles are deserving of respect—they juggle comments from their online audience with the needs of their bosses; they personify brands on social media; and they remain forever plugged in to what’s happening on various social networks. Yes, it’s exhausting—and it’s among the most in-demand jobs.
