‘Movember’: Global events to prevent male cancers and mental health
Communicators are getting a boost from sheriff’s officers, barbers, fraternities and others. Screenings and support are front and center.
‘Movember’ began in Australia in 2003 when four friends brainstormed the idea to grow facial hair for the month. The movement has spread to the U.S. and 20 other countries and has raised $710 million since its inception. According to the group’s website, 5 million men and women have participated in the movement.
Much of the Movember Foundation’s activities and PR center on light, comical themes around facial hair, shaving and even a #DadBod challenge. According to a post on Refinery29:
