Miss Puerto Rico suspended after anti-Muslim tweets
The pageant contestant apologized for her remarks and has since deleted her Twitter account.
2015’s Miss Puerto Rico, Destiny Velez, was suspended from the pageant indefinitely after launching into a lengthy, anti-Muslim Twitter rant.
Responding to Michael Moore’s #WeAreAllMuslim campaign, Velez said that Muslims have “terrorizing agendas.” She also wrote:
All what Muslims have done is provided oil & terrorize this country & many others!!!!
She continued:
There’s NO comparison between Jews, Christians & Muslims. Jews nor Christians have terrorizing agendas in their sacred books.
In case you’re still wondering where the beauty queen stands on the issue, Velez included the following in her Twitter rant:
If we are all the same then Muslims need to take off their napkins off of their heads cuz I feel offended by it.
