Is social media manager a job with great work/life balance?
Never mind those nights spent battling Facebook trolls and calming irate customers on Twitter. A report from Glassdoor lists the job in the top 10 careers with the highest work/life balance.
Don’t worry about that brand crisis on Facebook. She’ll clean it up when she dawdles in tomorrow morning after her yoga class.
Does that sound like your job, social media manager? Well, such seem to be the assumptions behind a report on Glassdoor.
Relying on feedback shared on the employment search site, Glassdoor lists social media manager as No. 5 on a list of the “Top 10 Jobs With the Highest Work-Life Balance,” as Mashable reports.
The social media job came in right behind tour guide (No. 3) and lifeguard (No. 4). Corporate communicator was No. 8.
“Balancing your career and personal life is no easy task,” Mashable writes. “But if you’re a data scientist, tour guide or social media manager, it may be easier to maintain a healthy work-life balance…”
I know you social media managers must get frustrated about all those misconceptions out there. People mistakenly think you are tethered to your smartphone, thumb-typing, “Thanks for your feedback!” at midnight when trolls swarm your hashtag to drop misinformed F-bombs about your brand.
