HSBC exec apologizes in front of U.K. Parliament
The bank’s high-ups continue to say tax-dodging practices were ‘unacceptable.’
There’s some pretty compelling evidence to suggest that HSBC helped its wealthiest clients dodge taxes—but don’t worry, their executives are sorry.
HSBC execs Stuart Gulliver and Douglas Flint appeared before the U.K. Parliament’s Treasury Select Committee Wednesday.
“I’d like to put on the record an apology from both myself and from Douglas for the unacceptable events that took place,” Gulliver told the committee. “It clearly was unacceptable.”
