How to make the first 100 days in leaderships comms count

A new job can be daunting in the best of times. Preparing for a new role within leaderships comms can be even more intimidating.
There are some strategies, however, to help you set the pace for a successful and collaborative first 100 days as the head of internal or external comms.
“Harness the curiosity that characterizes all communicators and be a student of everything,” Paul Ellsberg, vice president of brand reputation at Constellation Energy, said during Ragan’s Employee Communications and Culture Conference.
Integrate yourself into the business you’re leading, he said. In other words, become a businessperson in communications, not a communications professional in business.
To lead your team well, you must “become an expert of the business or organization that you’re in,” Ellsberg said. “The deeper you can go, the better you’re able to counsel leaders.”
