Film critic Roger Ebert has died
The Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times died on Thursday after battling cancer for a decade.
Ebert, who worked for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years and was co-host for 37 years of “At the Movies,” had battled cancer since 2002. He lost his jaw in 2006 as a result of surgery and was unable to talk. On Wednesday, Ebert posted to his blog, saying he was scaling back his film reviews—taking a “leave of presence,” as he called it—after learning his cancer had returned.
A prolific Twitter user, Ebert became a trending topic in the U.S. shortly after news of his death was released.
