Comms and legal must team up for AI implementation
Keep your eye on the big picture – with some help from your teammates.

AI can streamline workflows and enhance productivity, but it also introduces serious legal, ethical, and reputational risks that organizations must carefully manage.
Legal experts say the key is a proactive, collaborative approach that brings together communications, legal and technical teams. From copyright issues to cybersecurity threats, the risks are real – and so is the opportunity for communicators to lead responsibly.
“I wouldn’t get too caught up in the nitty-gritty,” Rachel Marmor, a partner at the law firm Holland & Knight, said during Ragan’s AI Horizons conference in Miami. “The stuff that I would encourage, particularly people on the business side, to think about is, what are the principles, what are the big picture things we’re focused on and what can go wrong.”
Mitigate risk
Companies should evaluate potential vulnerabilities before deploying AI, including issues related to data use, IP ownership, algorithm bias and misinformation.
