Virtual reality animation draws crowds to drug maker’s trade show booth
A “Fantastic Voyage”-style journey through the colon delivered a coveted “ah-ha!” moment.
There’s ordinary animation, and then there’s the incredibly detailed and immersive animation that Klick Health produced to send viewers on an immersive journey through the human colon. It’s a fantastic voyage, and one that’s taken first place in the “Animated Video” category of PR Daily’s 2016 Video Awards.
The virtual reality experience was created to attract conference attendees to the Takeda Pharmaceuticals booth at two key conferences as the organization was introducing ENTYVIO, a prescription drug for adults living with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, which affects 1.4 million people in the United States alone.
Although the drug has proven effective, it’s still new to physicians who can be notoriously conservative about trying new things. Given the challenge ENTYVIO faced, Klick Health decided to go bold with the “ENTYVIO Virtual Reality (VR) Experience.” This immersive journey through the human colon was enabled with Oculus Rift headsets at the trade show booth, allowing doctors to see how ENTYVIO interacts with the body by targeting specific molecules in the gut.
Crowds forming at the booth responded so enthusiastically that the Klick Health team set to work producing a Google Cardboard version that would allow even more physicians to experience the journey without needing to be present at a conference.
Congratulations to this highly innovative approach to team members Ken George, Alli Collins, Valeria Marques, Simon Smith, Jiwan Dhaliwall, Matthew Maian and James Berger.
