Affleck, Downey apologize and deflect
The actors, who portray Batman and Iron Man in upcoming movies, handled media pressure in very different ways this week. (Update)
A pair of superhero actors had some very publicly human experiences with the press this week. Ben Affleck and Robert Downey Jr., the men behind the masks of Batman and Iron Man, respectively, showed that media scrutiny can rattle even the most seasoned Hollywood A-listers.
Affleck has issued a heartfelt apology over a controversial decision to suppress the fact that his ancestors owned slaves during his appearance on the PBS documentary series “Finding Your Roots.” News of Affleck pressuring producers to suppress his family history were revealed via emails made public from the Sony Pictures leak first made public late last year.
