How to create superb infographics
Conveying information visually is as old as cave paintings. The modern, digital approach is every bit as compelling to today’s audiences—if you do it properly. Follow this advice, offered in infographic form.
The folks at Ervin & Smith have compiled a five-step checklist for creating irresistible data visualizations. First, “find the story” you want to tell. Do you envision a numbers-driven piece, or a listicle? Is your goal to create a how-to, or perhaps just a chronological list?
The graphic’s final exhortations are “double check your stats” and “make it shareable.” The creators suggest an optimum width of 735 pixels and a maximum height of 6,000 pixels. They also offer social media-specific tips for optimizing infographics on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
