In his distinctive, gravelly voice, famed musician Tom Waits barks out, “Take one last look at the place you are leaving.” Inspired by the singer, it’s also good advice for writers. Take one last look at your copy before you let it go.

You’ll earn respect from the bosses if your copy is clean, even if it needs some fixes. Your readers will appreciate the effort. And you’ll always find something you can make a little better.
