Metro USA newspapers canceled its contract with the Associated Press effective Apr. 1. Numerous stories in Metro USA’s daily commuter newspapers came from, or were adapted from, AP wire service items. Editor-in-chief Tony Metcalf said Metro USA’s existing staff will write more original stories.
