If you’re considering Tumblr at your organization—and you should—you first need to learn why it’s become such a popular social media tool and what it can do for you.
The tumblelog service is a short-form blog that enables users to share a variety of media: text, photos, videos, links, music and audio, quotes, and chats. For instance, tumbleloggers can publish a longer, text-heavy post, an image and caption, a podcast, or a video.
To better understand this platform, consider blogging as a spectrum.
On one end you have Twitter, a micro-blog, which limits users to short blasts of 140 characters or less. On the other end are more robust blogging platforms, such as WordPress.
In the middle of this spectrum, between Twitter and WordPress, is Tumblr.
