New York Times: ‘We don’t really have social media guidelines’
The paper’s social media editor said Times staff are told, ‘don’t be stupid’ online.
So, it would seem that most companies—particularly the ones reporting on these gaffes—would have airtight social media policies. They’re in the business of writing headlines, not making them.
Not so at The New York Times. Its social media policy amounts to: “Don’t be stupid.”
That’s what the paper’s social media editor, Liz Heron, told the audience at the BBC’s Social Media Summit.
