Comedian starts Twitter campaign against Burger King
Billy Eichner says the fast food chain stole the premise of his ‘Billy on the Street’ videos for a series of ads. Burger King hasn’t responded, but McDonald’s has.
Burger King poked the wrong hornet’s nest.
The company released an ad that was startlingly similar to the style made popular by comedian-on-the-street Billy Eichner. In his “Billy on the Street” segments, he ambushes unsuspecting people on the street with questions and there’s money involved and yelling and Burger King did something way too similar in one of its recent commercials.
It’s a very poor facsimile of Eichner’s signature schtick:
This was brought to Eichner’s attention, and he tweeted to his nearly quarter of a million followers:
Hey @BurgerKing-thanks for stealing my act for ur new commercial!! Except its not as funny & everyone knows u stole it. GET YOUR OWN IDEAS.
