TurboTax responds to fraud concerns
The CEO for Intuit’s tax software issued a statement after data breach concerns led to several states to refuse returns. What does this crisis situation mean for the company?
TurboTax suspended its state tax filing service in 18 states after reports surfaced of compromised data. The state of Minnesota even issued the following statement:
Some Minnesota taxpayers have recently found that when they log in to TurboTax to file their tax return, they see that a return has already been filed. Due to this potentially fraudulent activity, we have stopped accepting tax returns submitted using TurboTax.
TurboTax has now resumed filing state tax returns, including in Minnesota, but questions remain. Intuit CEO Brad Smith issued the following statement:
