More people ‘liking’ brands on Facebook: report

By Kevin Allen | Posted: January 18, 2013
Facebook users have more brands as friends than ever, with the average consumer liking 29 brands. Last year, the average user liked seven brands.

That’s according to The Curve Report from NBCUniversal Integrated Media.

Thirty-nine percent of respondents to the poll said they regularly interact with brands on Facebook. Thirty-three percent said they occasionally interact with them, and 28 percent said they never do.

Shortcomings remain, however. Nearly a quarter of users are still just “liking” brands for the offers and deals while 21 percent agreed that “most brands just try to accumulate as many friends, fans or followers as possible, but don’t take the right steps to build a real community.”
