This is about using technology to free journalists to do more journalism and less data processing, not about eliminating jobs. In fact, most of the staff has been receptive to the effort and involved for the past few months of discussion.

This fresh take on data processing has thrown the industry a curve ball and has raised questions about security, accuracy, and newsworthiness. Some PR folks and journos say that only will this bold move free up human reporters to spend less time crunching numbers, they say, they’ll have more time to analyze what those numbers actually mean.

Could @AP‘s new robot-written earnings reports actually be a good thing for financial journalism? http://t.co/Sp7Z7aw9Ip
