Chick-fil-A loses trademark battle over ‘Eat More Kale’ slogan

The fast-food brand, labeled a ‘bully’ by Vermont’s governor, faced PR backlash recently after a three-year legal case with a small business owner.

Chick-fil-A argued that Bo Muller-Moore’s slogan was too similar to its “Eat Mor Chikn” slogan that it promotes in its current advertising campaigns. The fast-food chain lost the three-year legal battle on Friday.

Now Chick-fil-A is facing PR backlash with Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin joining Muller-Moore on the steps of the state capital to spike the football and label Chick-fil-A a “corporate bully.”

Muller-Moore’s quote to Reuters is classic:

People recognize that a dude in Vermont that currently has people stealing my easily replicable designs, they recognize I need more protection. People recognize that I’m selling T-shirts online, and they’re selling sandwiches in airports and malls and stand-alone stores. And there’s plenty of room for each of us.
