Starbucks is leading the charge among several weighty corporations for the “100,000 opportunities initiative.”

Alaska Airlines, Cintas, CVS Health, Hilton Worldwide, HMSHost, JCPenney, JPMorgan Chase, Lyft, Macy’s, Microsoft, Porch.com, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Target, Walgreens and Walmart are also involved in the effort, which seeks to hire 100,000 workers between the ages of 16 and 24 by 2018 “who face systemic barriers to jobs and education,” according to a Starbucks press release.

These opportunities include internships, apprenticeships, training programs and part- and full-time jobs. The initiative kicks off with a job fair—called the Opportunity Fair & Forum for Opportunity Youth—in Chicago on Aug. 13. Companies involved expect to make 200 on-the-spot job offers and 1,000 jobs in the next year and a half. Actor and rapper Common will bring some star power as host of the Chicago job fair.
