As 2012 winds to a (hopefully apocalypse-free) close, Twitter is taking a look at how the year’s events were covered through the platform.

Between the London Olympics, Superstorm Sandy, and the presidential election, there was plenty to chat about.

To illustrate the event, Twitter created a website, http://2012.twitter.com/, which, according to the Twitter blog, includes: the year’s top tweets and conversations, moments of serendipity and awesomeness, trends, and new voices.

Care to guess the two tweets that sparked the most shares?

No. 1 was President Obama’s “four more years” tweet, while No. 2 went to Justin Bieber, who tweeted “RIP Avalanna. I love you,” upon the passing of a six-year-old fan who died of a rare form of brain cancer.
