NBC may be distancing itself from the ongoing conversation on gun control.
NBC sports has decided not to sponsor the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade
, or SHOT, which the organization has sponsored for “several years,” according to Media Matters
The show, the largest gun show in the United States, has a history of opposing more stringent gun laws.
An NBC spokesperson stopped short of giving a specific reason in a statement to Media Matters, “Our level of sponsorship has varied each year, and this January we will not be sponsoring the show because it does not make business sense for us at this time.”

Last month, the network cancelled a show sponsored by the NRA called “Under Wild Skies,” after the host shot and killed an elephant on-air. The host, Tony Makris, also compared his critics to Adolf Hitler. The network called those comments “outrageous and unacceptable.”
