A New York woman is suing Chipotle because she claims she was fired after taking time off, on doctor’s orders, after she was violently beaten by her boyfriend.
Natasha Velez tells the New York Daily News
that her manager fired her after she came back to work because of her “situation outside work.” She even says she showed up later with police report and a record of her ER visit in tow.
Chipotle did not respond to the lawsuit.
Quite a few people tweeted criticisms to Chipotle about the firing:
Velez is seeking “back wages, a new job and unspecified damages,” according to Daily News.

She said she was in talks with her manager about moving up in the company, and that she didn’t want to leave her job.
