WhatsApp takes a stand on privacy by encrypting users’ data
The social media app’s founders said the ‘desire to protect people’s private communication is one of the core beliefs’ of the company.
People want to know that the data on their mobile devices are safe, and this week the world’s most popular messaging app took a step toward ensuring that.
The Facebook-owned company announced the addition of end-to-end encryption, meaning that a message’s intended viewer will be the only one who will be able to see it. This goes for all messages, calls and group chats—and it’s now the prevailing policy across all operating systems.
