In case you hadn’t heard, Ron Burgundy is “kind of a big deal
The faculty and student body at Emerson College certainly aren’t arguing with that.
Reports the Associated Press
, the private institution in Boston will rename its school of communication
to honor the legendary, fictitious television anchorman, but for only a day.
Will Ferrell, who portrays the character in both the original “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” as well as the film’s upcoming sequel, is slated to appear in character at a ceremony Dec. 4, where he will discuss the path he took to journalism greatness.
The event is set to include a press conference, a renaming ceremony, and a screening of “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Ferrell, appearing as himself, will introduce the screening.
Emerson’s president, Lee Pelton, said in a statement
A visit from Ron Burgundy is a chance to engage with someone who understands the power of media, as well as hairspray, first-hand.
Although I’m sure the school has many leather-bound books, one has to wonder if it will also smell of rich mahogany to mark the occasion.
