For the fourth time, Erik Qualman, author of the book “Socialnomics,” has updated his popular YouTube video about social media. The video is a roughly three-minute look at stats and facts related to the digital age.

Here are 10 of the more surprising things mentioned in the latest version of the video:

1. Generations Y and Z consider email passé: Some universities have even stopped issuing email addresses to students.

2. 92 percent of children under the age of 2 have “digital shadows.”

3. If Wikipedia were made into a book, it would be 2.25 million pages.

4. 90 percent of customers trust peer recommendations compared with 14 percent who trust advertising.

5. Facebook’s 1 billion members makes it the third largest nation in the world (behind China and India).

6. Every day, 20 percent of Google searches have never been searched for in the past.

7. Social media has become the No. 1 activity on the Web.

8. One in five couples meet online; three in five gay couples meet online.

9. One in five divorces are blamed on Facebook.

10. The Ford Explorer launch on Facebook created more traffic than a Super Bowl ad.
